Chairman’s Message  . . .  James Layden    Done

It seems that everything we have done to promote Southern culture and a free and independent South Carolina has grown out of proportion to what may be expected from volunteers.  This growth and the added responsibility of other related ventures combined with my advanced age makes it impossible for me to continue as your chairman.  My resignation was submitted to the SCLoS Board of Directors in a meeting at the Cayce Southern Patriot Shop on 3 February 2007 to become effective 28 February 2007.  I recommended C. Jim Hanks, Jr. as my replacement, and the board elected him.  I have worked closely with Jim Hanks for the past year and believe he is the right person at the right time to lead the SCLoS.

We are entering trying times and will have many opportunities to make a difference through the political process and to advance Southern culture.  I want to thank y’all for your support during the last four years and trust you will respond to Jim Hanks in like manner.  May God grant us a free and independent South Carolina in this generation.
