Director’s
Report . . . Robert Hayes
I usually try to bring our members up to date on our past activities and future plans and actions, but since most of that information is covered elsewhere in this issue, I want to discuss a few issues that should be of grave concern to Southern nationalists. I am a member of the South Carolina League of the South because it can best help us regain our government and preserve Southern culture. We have very limited time left to regain that government for ourselves and our posterity. That is what I want to discuss with you now.
South Carolina has been the territory of our people for 335 years or about fifteen generations. While the size and shape of that territory has changed during those 335 years, the territory’s core has remained essentially the same. Our ancestors for about fifteen generations have built a culture on or in that triangular piece of territory known as South Carolina. They protected both the culture and territory from all comers so we, their descendants, would have that territory with the culture of our people to enjoy. Protection of territory is a strong animal instinct because if territory is lost, no place is left for future generations to preserve their culture and in turn propagate additional generations.
In The American Revolution Resurgent, Raphael G. Kazmann writes, “The instinctive urge to defend individual and group territories (we call the latter ‘patriotism’) often takes precedence over individual survival. For if the territory is successfully defended, the survivors will perpetuate the gene pool of the defender and preserve his biological line, the ultimate goal of the individual involved.” Kazmann also states, “Territoriality is such a common human characteristic that it is taken for granted.” Short of death, the ultimate punishment is exile. Kazmann again writes, “Homesickness is a more serious manifestation of this primordial urge (territoriality). Most people dislike leaving their home areas and do so only because of overriding necessity. In fact, the ultimate penalty for anti-social behavior in ancient Greece was not death, it was exile.” For those that truly love South Carolina, what could be worse than never being allowed to live here again?
To protect one’s territory and culture for posterity is an act of morality. To not so act is immoral. Our ancestors were not immoral, for they handed to us both their territory of South Carolina and their wonderful Southern, European, Christian culture. That territory and culture now belong to us. If we, however, do not protect our culture and territory to pass to our posterity we, then, are immoral. To protect our culture and territory for our people and our posterity is not only our right, but indeed a moral duty.
We, the people of South Carolina, now face a major crisis. We are daily being invaded by two alien cultures very different from our Southern culture and often hostile to our culture and our people. First, we are being invaded from the North by a group of people that, if not hostile to our culture, are indifferent to it. They see no particular value in Southern culture and will not help us save it, if indeed they are not trying to destroy it. Then, there are those that really hate our culture and us as a people. They view themselves as better educated than we are (usually they are not) and more intelligent than we are (they almost never are), and they believe that they can enlighten us (we do not need nor want their enlightenment). They come South not to appreciate our culture or us, but in search of a warm North. These people will almost always work against our best interests. We have allowed too many of these people to get into positions of influence and power. These people are Yankees. We, however, are glad to accept Northerners who appreciate our culture and want to help us to throw off the chains of the federal government. Some of our best members are Northerners (copperheads).
Second, South Carolina is being invaded from the south by another foreign culture and people. They constitute, perhaps, an even greater danger, for they are coming into our territory in large numbers and retaining their culture and language. We cannot read a product label or make a business telephone call without being confronted by a foreign language. While the numbers for these illegal aliens are somewhat hard to come by, as many as five hundred thousand in South Carolina has been estimated. That is more than ten percent of our population. The rate of this invasion will, in all likelihood, increase in the next several years. If it is not stopped, we will be outnumbered in our own territory. These people have already so invaded California with their numbers and alien culture that people of European decent are fleeing that state in increasing numbers. New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas are also experiencing this immigration of foreign people and culture and flight of the existing population. The European population is simply being replaced in California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. The people in flight are losing the territory that they should have handed down to future generations.
Because Southerners have such a sense of place, if we lose our territory, we must also lose some of the culture that is so intertwined with that territory, that place. Those people of the above-listed states should have fought much harder for their territory, territory that belonged to them and should have belonged to their descendants. In The American Revolution Resurgent, Kazmann also wrote, “Biological immortality appears to be the ultimate human goal, as it is throughout the animal kingdom, although some would argue that spiritual immortality is the ultimate goal of mankind.”
Why did these people of European descent, whose forebears had explored further and wider than any other people and had created superior cultures give up and give in to a foreign people and let aliens take their territory from them? I am not a historian or sociologist. But due to at least fifty years of teaching and preaching by a group of people (primarily New England Yankees), the European people of California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas were taught to hate themselves. Those that did not accept this ideology were silenced by the threat of being called racist. And, of course, this vile ideology was not directed just at residents of those Western states, but to all of us union-wide, and especially to us Southerners.
South Carolina is still sixty-five per cent native born, but that figure is growing smaller each and every day. If we do not stop this downward trend very soon, we will not leave to our descendant the culture that was left to us. This will be an immoral act on our part.
What can we, as League members, do to stop this territorial and cultural loss? Clearly, one thing we must not do is sit around and let someone else solve this problem for us. We have precious little time left to actuate an action plan to stop the loss of our territory and destruction of our Southern, European, Christian culture. While others may call for and encourage Southern genocide, we have no right to indulge in genocidal suicide, for that would be an act of immorality against our posterity.
Our national League of the South president, Dr. Michael Hill, has issued a League of the South Action Alert you may access at www.dixienet.org/action/.html calling for a plan of action that I have been thinking about for some time. We in leadership have many irons in the fire, but we are willing to add this iron to the fire. But, ladies and gentlemen, let me be quite blunt. We cannot do this only at the leadership level. You must help.
We can make illegal immigration the hot political issue it should be, if we are willing to take on the employers that hire illegals and the politicians that look the other way. The people that hire illegals do so because they are getting cheap labour, but you and I are subsidising the employers with our hard-earned tax dollars. And, of course, some of these employers with deep pockets are able to elect or keep elected politicians that are willing to look the other way. It is a self-perpetuating evil we must stop. These employers and politicians are immoral because they are aiding in the loss of our territory and culture. Because of their greed! The SCLoS is a large and growing organisation that has become a political entity in South Carolina, but when we take on this righteous cause, we must have your help. When we take on those businesses or politicians for a flagging or protest, you need to put on your red shirt and join us.
Now, if you have or will read Dr. Hill’s message about illegal immigrants, you will see an action plan to expose those people that are helping illegals take our territory and destroy our culture by giving them employment. Some of our members may even be providing jobs for these illegals, and I may be stepping on a few toes. If so, so be it. It must stop and stop now, or we will give up our territory and lose our culture. That would be an act of immorality.
You, our members, must also consider digging deeper into your pockets to help us finance the many political actions we are involved in. Protest signs cost quite a bit. As I have said many times, freedom is not free nor is it cheap. How badly do you want to hand down our territory and Southern, European, Christian culture to your posterity? You need to be very actively recruiting new members. Our ranks are large and growing, but we still need to be many times larger.
Folks, the time for saving our territory and culture is short. I do not know how to convey the urgency of this matter more clearly. If you do not step forward now and with greater effort, our cause of saving our Southland and our Southern culture will be lost. You will have to bear at least some of the blame. And that would be immoral. Dante wrote, “The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crises, maintain neutrality.”
