Director’s
Report
Something
Positive is Happening
When Jennifer Timmons
called requesting an interview at the store I was sure that Fox News would be
looking to skewer us. Why else would a TV station want to feature the Southern
Patriot Shop? Haven’t we been the media’s favorite all-purpose kicking post?
Doesn’t the media follow the lead of the
Southern Poverty and Law Center’s Intelligence
Report, which, only last summer, ran an article about the store entitled
"Heritage or Hate."
And yet the Fox News
coverage of the store was 100% positive. They highlighted Mr. H. K. Edgerton’s
eloquence, according it the dignity it so richly deserves. Then followed Ms
Timmons’ interview with me, in which I invited everybody, white, black, hispanic
- everybody who loves the South - to proclaim their love and be proud of it,
all of it.
New customers
continue to mention the Fox News report
as the place where they first heard about us.
This could not have
happened two, or even one year ago.
Here’s what has
happened. The media blasted away at us for a generation or more, only making us
better. We became more determined, better organized, more resourceful, better
advocates for our cause, better showmen, even. All the while, the media, with
gazillions of bucks and all the fresh talent and gewhizzery money can buy,
finally woke up to the fact that opposing us is far less popular than they
thought.
Newspapers,
especially, are on the skids. If they could sell papers by continuing to attack
us they would do so. They can’t! South Carolinians know that we are not the bad
guys.
We have put our arch
enemy, Morris Dees, on the defensive. Our campaign informing the major news
media of his extremely unsavory character and unconscionable tactics has
worked. And our twin raids, at Koger Center, on the USC campus, and at Western
Carolina University, in Asheville, North Carolina, are just the beginning. The
Southern Poverty and Law Center’s star is now waning, in no small part because
it took on the South Carolina League of the South.
We are adopting new
tactics. While the State Museum held its politically-correct Sherman Fest,
effectively celebrating proud Columbia’s desecration by invading barbarians, we
gave them hell! We took the truth onto the State House steps. It was old-time
street theater. We gave Lincoln and Sherman the party they truly deserve. We
hanged them. This bold act shined daylight onto the public forum, exposing the
timeless truth our present rulers would obscure. This truth is that the despoilers
of Columbia are still here, still lording it over South Carolina, taking the
best for themselves and despising us, our pride and our freedom-loving
heritage. No longer will the truth run and hide. We put it on public display.
We are learning to perform, both figuratively and actively, and we will take
our act on the road!
We have not yet won
the big battles. We South Carolinians are still oppressed in our own land! Many
babies are still murdered with impunity, and we aren’t yet able to save their
lives. Most children are still being indoctrinated in pagan seminaries. The
value of our fiat currency is rapidly evaporating. The Empire invades our
personal privacy, tapping our phones without restraint. And the alien invasion
of our territory proceeds apace.
However, every
skirmish we have entered we have won. And in thwarting the ambitions of
scallywag politicians, we are winning battles, too! At one time outcome of this
war for the hearts and minds of South Carolinians was in doubt. Today it hardly
seems so.
Tyrannical government
always sows the seeds of its own downfall. And we are blessed to live among a
people than which no other on earth has ever been more willing, nay eager, to
offer personal sacrifice in the cause of self determination. The scales are
rapidly falling from the eyes of our long suffering countrymen. Historical
memory is reasserting itself in our time. Fortified with spirit of our
forefathers, from here on out our struggle for independence will only
intensify.
What the South
Carolina League of the South has done is this. We have changed the parameters
of the public debate. We are the advance guard who say what untold others wish
they could say and will soon be shouting. We give others courage because we
speak the truth and we speak it well; we neither let up nor doubt that we will
win. Every time we appear in the news we weaken our opponents and stiffen the
resolve of our like-minded friends. We
are the backbone of resistance and the harbinger of things to come. We are our
enemy’s worst nightmare.
Yes, time is running
out. And yet time is always running out. But because we are such people as we
are, exceptional individuals engaging in a historical struggle, unwavering,
always learning, always seeking a slight advantage and making the most of it,
the future will be shaped by us. We, who are the South Carolina League of the
South, are playing the part that is our destiny.
No more
independent-minded, grab-on-and-hold-on determined individuals can be found
anywhere on earth. And by the principle of like-attracts-like, we are destined
to prevail. So much now depends upon us.
